Dr. Charles Darwin, Jr. is a pastoral counselor and marriage and
family therapist in private practice in Dallas, Texas. He graduated
with a B.A. from Baylor University in 1966, majoring in psychology
and religion. He then completed his Master of Divinity degree at
Southern Baptist Theological Seminary with a major in pastoral
counseling in 1970 and was ordained. While in Louisville, Dr.
Darwin married the former Patricia Moler of Roanoke, Virginia, in
1967. Following a year of Clinical Pastoral Education as a Chaplain
Intern at Indiana University Medical Center in Indianapolis, he
served as pastor of First Baptist Church, Bluffton, Indiana. In
1976, Darwin completed his Doctor of Ministry degree at Christian
Theological Seminary in Indianapolis. His major field of study was
in Pastoral Counseling, and his field project was entitled
"Effective Marriage Enrichment Models for the Local Church". In
1978, Darwin moved his family, including two children, to Lubbock,
Texas, where he became the founding Executive Director of
Crossroads Samaritan Counseling Center. He served there until 1983,
when he came to Dallas to specialize in marriage and family
counseling. Dr. Darwin has served as Minister of pastoral
counseling at Plymouth Park Baptist Church and Park Cities Baptist
Church. He has been active in committees of the Association of
Pastoral Counselors, including two terms as President of the
Southwest region of the AAPC.
Currently, Dr. Charles
Darwin maintains his private practice and consults with leadership
in churches and businesses. He preaches and teaches on
parenting and marriage enrichment in churches in Dallas,
Texas. For the next six months he is teaching a
Bible study of the Gospel of John at Northway Christian Church. In
addition, Darwin has served as Adjunct Professor of Pastoral
Counseling at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort
Worth, Texas. His hobbies include golfing, cycling, computer
technology, grandparenting five spectacular children, and
"dialogical walks" with his wife, Patricia.
